It all began back in 1977 when Stik Anderson (ABBA’s
manager) predicted that “.. an impact of such talent only surfaces once
every 10 years … and the next time such a group comes along, they will
emerge in Australia…”. Then in 1988 it happened and a horrific crash
occurred between a giant platform shoe from outer space and a helicopter
which left Björn Volvo-us, Benny Anderwear, Agnetha Falstart and Frida
Longstokin stranded on a deserted island with severe amnesia and some
strange songs running around inside their heads. They did not know who they
were but thought they must be connected in some way, possibly married to
each other, as they were all together and spoke in a similar Scandinavian
way. Fortunately they were rescued and taken to the nearby shores of
Melbourne Australia. At first no-one could believe their eyes as their
resemblance to those 1970s SuperSwedes ABBA had to be one of the biggest
coincidences of all time, but they were not ABBA, they were Björn Again.
With their action action packed show that delivers some of the best pop
songs ever written, Björn Again have become one of the most popular and
busiest acts in the world today.

ABBA were a pop music phenomenon during the 1970s and
early 1980s and were the first ever Swedish act to be taken seriously in
Britain and America. They initially achieved this by winning the 1974
Eurovision Song Contest (which took place in the seaside town of Brighton
England) with ‘Waterloo’, which topped the UK chart, reached US Top 10 and
was a hit all over the world. ABBA comprehensively conquered Australia in
1976/7, at one time having five hits in the local Top 10, and even filming
‘ABBA - The Movie’ there. It is believed that more Australians watched the
TV Special “ABBA - Live in Australia”, than saw the first Moon landing in
the late sixties, but ABBA only toured Australia once, in 1977, because like
many acts, economic problems made touring very difficult.
In 1992, “ABBA GOLD” a Greatest Hits compilation, was
released, and has sold prodigiously all over the world ever since indicating
that the ABBA revival is showing no sign of coming to an end. Also in 1992,
British duo Erasure released their ‘ABBA-esque’ EP, which topped the UK
singles chart, confirming that it was ABBA Revival Year. As a result BJÖRN
AGAIN clinched their own record deal and reached the UK Top 25 with their
debut single, “Erasure-ish” featuring ‘A Little Respect’ and ‘Stop’ two of
Erasure’s songs.
BJÖRN AGAIN take special care in their re-creations of
the ABBA phenomenon, both visually (one of ABBA’s strengths was their
colourful glittery costumery, critically derided as kitsch, but much
imitated by Björn Again’s audience), and in their accurate reflection of the
ABBA sound which dominated much of the world when the Swedish quartet were
active. With use of ‘Swenglish’ accents and over-familiar dance steps plus a
pinch of satire and a spot of humour, BJÖRN AGAIN’s live shows are among the
most entertaining in the world today.
Today, BJÖRN AGAIN (now based in the UK) are more popular
than ever, with demand for shows, tours and appearances at an all time high:
BJÖRN AGAIN look like ABBA, dress like ABBA and sound like ABBA . To date,
BJÖRN AGAIN have performed an astonishing 2500 concerts in 45 countries
around the world. ABBA have made it clear that they will never reunite, and
many feel that without doubt BJÖRN AGAIN have made such a reunion
unnecessary as they recreate with breathtaking authenticity the ABBA
experience.
